Photo of William A Warrior, Retired Palo Alto Animal Control Officer, and His Wonderful Dog Lily Wins Journalism Prize!

The photo of Bill and Lily taken by Chief Visual Journalist Magali Gauthier of the Palo Alto Weekly and originally published in Palo Alto Online & Palo Alto Weekly won second prize in the 2021 California Journalism Awards competition. The photo is a true classic!

Bill and Lilly were frequent presenters at PAHS educational sessions for student audiences of all ages. We miss their incredible contributions and are so happy to share the winning photo!

The Palo Alto Humane Society is a 501(c) 3 nonprofit, charitable, volunteer-supported organization. PAHS is one of the few humane societies nationwide with no animal shelter. Instead of managing animals inside a shelter, we work to keep animals out of the shelter through humane programs in intervention, advocacy, and education. For a century, our mission has been to alleviate the suffering of animals, increase public sensitivity to animal issues, and elevate the status of animals in our society.
