Adoptables Art:
Pet Painters Program Connects Students with Shelter Animals
Palo Alto Humane partners with local school district art departments to connect young students with shelter animals through the visual arts. Under the guidance of school art teachers, students learn how to recognize the essence of another being, and their soulful paintings help promote the adoption of dogs and cats in local shelters. Through Adoptables Art, students become humane advocates, empathizing with the animals they draw and paint.

Creating a Humane World:
Internships and Special Projects on Animal Welfare Issues
Palo Alto Humane works with students from junior high school through college to create and advise on individual projects for college or community service on topics related to animal welfare and rights.
Past projects have included the creation of videos, written presentations and papers, and internships with local veterinary clinics. Palo Alto Humane looks forward to discussing ideas with you for your project.
Animals Everywhere:
Issues in Humane Education—Classroom and Small-group Education
“Animals Everywhere” is a program of presentations for schools and organizations, for students from kindergarten through high school and for adults of all ages, that focus on the animals in our community, responsible pet care, and living with pets and wildlife. Our school presentations are tailored to the specific needs of the school, after-school, and summer/intersession programs.
Palo Alto Humane Animal Shelter Reading Program
Palo Alto Humane provides the books, and local animal shelters provide the animals that allow children to bolster their confidence in reading. Our program is good for young readers who would benefit from reading aloud while connecting with and socializing shelter animals. Students can provide socialization to adoptable pets who could benefit from the interaction while learning more about how shelters help animals get adopted.
