Elementary Students Form an Adoption Club!

A group of first graders at Stevenson Elementary in Mountain View, along with their younger siblings, have embarked on a journey of learning about pets and how to help them through their new Adoption Center Club (ACC) supported by Palo Alto Humane Society.

The ACC has already begun attending Zoom sessions to watch videos and engage in discussions with PAHS educators. These students also held a plant sale to benefit PAHS—proceeds from the sale will go toward purchasing cat food needed by feeders and caretakers at local community cat colonies (see the photo below).

The Palo Alto Humane Society is a 501(c) 3 nonprofit, charitable, volunteer-supported organization. PAHS is one of the few humane societies nationwide with no animal shelter. Instead of managing animals inside a shelter, we work to keep animals out of the shelter through humane programs in intervention, advocacy, and education. For a century, our mission has been to alleviate the suffering of animals, increase public sensitivity to animal issues, and elevate the status of animals in our society.
