Thanks for the Opportunity! PAHS Was at Monta Loma Elementary VIP Reading Day, Friday, March 1.

Kindergartners at Monta Loma Elementary in Mountain View welcomed PAHS author Rhea Sampson and her two hero dogs, Shannon (Golden Retriever) and Travis (Rat Terrier-Chihuahua mix) at VIP Reading Day. Everyone listened to a read-aloud of Rhea's story, "Saving Travis," by the author herself, followed by a reading in Spanish by Leonor Delgado, PAHS' education manager, and a sing-along session. The students loved having the chance to meet and pet both Shannon and Travis!

The Palo Alto Humane Society is a 501(c) 3 nonprofit, charitable, volunteer-supported organization. PAHS is one of the few humane societies nationwide with no animal shelter. Instead of managing animals inside a shelter, we work to keep animals out of the shelter through humane programs in intervention, advocacy, and education. For a century, our mission has been to alleviate the suffering of animals, increase public sensitivity to animal issues, and elevate the status of animals in our society.
