PAHS and SVACA (Silicon Valley Animal Control Authority in Santa Clara, http://svaca.com/ ) partnered with the advanced art class at Hillview Middle School (https://district.mpcsd.org/Domain/11) in Menlo Park in an Adoptables Art project featuring animals sheltered at SVACA. The students visited the shelter to photograph the animals and interact with them, helping to socialize them. They then painted portraits of their favorite dogs or cats and wrote descriptions of how the animals would feel once they found their forever homes. Kudos to all these students and their wonderful teacher, Ms. Kogan!

The Palo Alto Humane Society is a 501(c) 3 nonprofit, charitable, volunteer-supported organization. PAHS is one of the few humane societies nationwide with no animal shelter. Instead of managing animals inside a shelter, we work to keep animals out of the shelter through humane programs in intervention, advocacy, and education. For a century, our mission has been to alleviate the suffering of animals, increase public sensitivity to animal issues, and elevate the status of animals in our society.
