Charlie (left), a rescued dog, and Cookie (right), a dog up for adoption at Pets In Need (PIN, http://www.petsinneed.org/) in Redwood City, accompanied PIN staff Marsa and Irene and volunteer Barbara to Beechwood School (http://www.beechwoodschool.org/) in Menlo Park this past Monday, November 27. Joined by Leonor from PAHS, the PIN delegation talked about the importance of spay-neuter and kill vs. no-kill shelters and rescue of shelter animals in a classroom of fifth-graders engaged in project-based learning.

The Palo Alto Humane Society is a 501(c) 3 nonprofit, charitable, volunteer-supported organization. PAHS is one of the few humane societies nationwide with no animal shelter. Instead of managing animals inside a shelter, we work to keep animals out of the shelter through humane programs in intervention, advocacy, and education. For a century, our mission has been to alleviate the suffering of animals, increase public sensitivity to animal issues, and elevate the status of animals in our society.
