Second and third graders enrolled in Beyond the Bell at Landels Elementary in Mountain View spent their final Critter Club session on Thursday, June 1, learning about rabbits as pets—how to care for them, what to feed them, and what they need to be happy and healthy. The special visitors to the session included pet rabbits Davey and Zelda and their person Becky Silva from The Rabbit Haven based in Santa Cruz with volunteers throughout the South Bay and Peninsula. Rabbits are usually shy animals, but Davey and Zelda proved to be quite the contrary. They enjoyed hugs and pets from the students and very gladly received hand-held treats.
Following the meet and greet with the rabbits, the students received certificates commending them for their participation in Critter Club and t-shirts. They then took class photos.
