On Wednesday, we received a call for an orphaned coyote pup in the hills of Los Altos. The pup had been seen by the homeowner for at least three days but didn’t see any adult coyotes around. The homeowner stated hearing the pup cry at night for its mother, but sadly his mother never came back.

Officer Macartney responded and checked the surrounding area for a den, but wasn’t able to locate one. When Officer Macartney arrived the pup hid under a wooden walkway, so a trap was set. Within about an hour, the hungry pup was caught and was taken to the animal shelter for an overnight stay before being transferred to Wildlife Center of Silicon Valley yesterday.

Estimated at only 7 weeks old, the pup was severely dehydrated and hungry, confirming he was indeed orphaned. Thank you to the homeowner for calling, and the Wildlife Center of Silicon Valley (WCSV) for taking him in! #coyote #animalcontrol #wildliferescue #ACO
