PAHS Visits South San Francisco Preschoolers

On December 6, 10, and 13, PAHS volunteer Rhea Sampson and her two canine companions Shannon and Travis visited preschool classes at South San Francisco Unified School District. Young students sang along with Rhea as she taught them how to care for their pets, especially dogs, watched Shannon and Travis perform tricks, and learned how Shannon was a hero dog in rescuing little Travis as they listened to a reading of "Saving Travis: A Rescue Story" in English and Spanish.

Special thanks to Jaqueline Cabañas, the parent involvement coach, at the district for inviting us to meet her staff and students.

The Palo Alto Humane Society is a 501(c) 3 nonprofit, charitable, volunteer-supported organization. PAHS is one of the few humane societies nationwide with no animal shelter. Instead of managing animals inside a shelter, we work to keep animals out of the shelter through humane programs in intervention, advocacy, and education.
