PAHS–SAGE Summer Experience 2019

This special veterinary shadowing program debuted this summer, giving entering high-school senior Nicole Abrigo the opportunity to observe procedures and protocols at one of the leading emergency veterinary clinics on the Peninsula, SAGE Veterinary Centers – Redwood City. Nicole is planning for a specialized career as a veterinary technician.

PAHS thanks the staff at SAGE for partnering with us to offer the program. We especially thank Dr. Leigh Glerum, Stacey Hightower, and Kristin Freitas—Kristin was in charge of implementing the program and guiding Nicole through the process—for making this program a reality.

The Palo Alto Humane Society is a 501(c) 3 nonprofit, charitable, volunteer-supported organization. PAHS is one of the few humane societies nationwide with no animal shelter. Instead of managing animals inside a shelter, we work to keep animals out of the shelter through humane programs in intervention, advocacy, and education. For a century, our mission has been to alleviate the suffering of animals, increase public sensitivity to animal issues, and elevate the status of animals in our society.
