PAHS at Kepler's Books and Magazines, Menlo Park, for "Running with Sherman"—Sunday, October 20

PAHS people Carole Hyde and Leonor Delgado were thrilled to meet author Christopher McDougall at Kepler's at a special live conversation hosted by Angie Coiro to present Chris' latest book, "Running with Sherman." This book tells the story of Sherman, a sick and neglected young donkey who Chris rescued. Sherman's story is an amazing and heartwarming tale of the human–animal connection that features a cast of real-life characters who joined together in rehabilitating and then training Sherman to compete in burro racing.

PAHS has a special connection with donkeys and donkey rescue, having partnered with Acterra: Action for a Healthy Planet, the group supporting the Barron Park donkeys, Jenny and Perry. We were very pleased to reconnect with Jenny Kiratli, who manages the care of the two Barron Park donkeys, at this event.

PAHS won one of the special prizes awarded at the event—an autographed photo of Sherman with his best feline friend, rescued kitty Polly. And we had a wonderful conversation with Chris about his connection with donkeys and ours.
