Intergenerational Playdate 2019: Animal Friends! Saturday, December 7

The Palo Alto Art Center hosted this year's Intergenerational Playdate with co-partners Avenidas (seniors), Youth Community Service (middle school and high school students), and PAHS (volunteers Sarah Clementson with her Golden Retriever Ani; Kathy Merkle-Raymond from Kara —grief counseling—with her Toy Australian Shepherd Cody, a registered service dog; photographer Steve Shpall; education manager Leonor Delgado).

Seniors and younger folk learned about PAHS' role in the community, met Ani and Cody (always happy to make new friends), and participated in creating animal portraits and making dog blankets and toys.

This was a wonderful event—special thanks to PAHS' community partners!

The Palo Alto Humane Society is a 501(c) 3 nonprofit, charitable, volunteer-supported organization. PAHS is one of the few humane societies nationwide with no animal shelter. Instead of managing animals inside a shelter, we work to keep animals out of the shelter through humane programs in intervention, advocacy, and education. For a century, our mission has been to alleviate the suffering of animals, increase public sensitivity to animal issues, and elevate the status of animals in our society.
