PAHS Partners with Mountain View Police Department for Critter Club!

Students from grades 2 through 5 participating in the Beyond the Bell after-school program at Monta Loma Elementary in Mountain View had the opportunity to meet two officers and their K-9 companions at Critter Club Thursday, November 29.

Officer Curtis Lau's K-9 partner Thor is an experienced veteran with 2+ years on the force. Officer Scott Thomas' Luna is a 6-month old puppy who made her training debut at Critter Club! Both helped their human handlers answer the students' insightful questions about training, on-the-job experience, and dog behavior. Thank you to the Mountain View Police for helping us teach students about the many different kinds of tasks performed by service dogs!

The Palo Alto Humane Society is a 501(c) 3 nonprofit, charitable, volunteer-supported organization. PAHS is one of the few humane societies nationwide with no animal shelter. Instead of managing animals inside a shelter, we work to keep animals out of the shelter through humane programs in intervention, advocacy, and education. For a century, our mission has been to alleviate the suffering of animals, increase public sensitivity to animal issues, and elevate the status of animals in our society.
