Critter Club at Costano Elementary, Wednesday, April 4—Cats!
Third graders in Ms. Egbert’s class learned about caring for cats as pets and cats as outside, abandoned creatures in our next-to-last Critter Club. PAHS education manager Leonor Delgado and education volunteer Jaye Bergen answered students’ questions about cat care and explained how we help abandoned and stray community cats.

Important points covered in the session were the need to spay and neuter all cats, pets and strays alike, and how to care for fosters, especially pre-wean kittens. For the latter, we used a special PowerPoint presentation prepared by Joanna Tang, another PAHS education volunteer.

At the end of the session, students learned about Jaye’s wonderful older rescued cat Marlowe and met him close up and personal! Marlowe loved being petted by so many eager fans!
