Fifth-grade students from Beechwood School in Menlo Park (http://www.beechwoodschool.org/) had the opportunity to meet with Fancy, a special needs (deaf) dog, and Desiree, a shy tortie cat, during their tour of Pets in Need in Redwood City (http://www.petsinneed.org/) on Tuesday, December 12. The tour and discussion about kill vs. no-kill shelters are important elements in a project-based learning program sponsored by PAHS about helping needy animals in the community with an emphasis on spay-neuter issues, and TNR of feral cats and socialization and fostering of adoptable cats and kittens. PAHS thanks Ms. Contreras from Pets in Need who led the tour and Ms. Potts and Ms. Langford from Beechwood, as well as the Beechwood parents who accompanied the students for this visit.
