Phil created What If Animals Could Speak for Themselves for the Palo Alto Humane Society, with narration by Shelley Long and Bruce Greenwood.
Daisy the dog, abandoned in a local shelter at two years of age, was scrawny, unhealthy, and terrified at the time of her adoption but eventually blossomed into a trusting and happy dog. Daisy provided many years of grateful devotion to her human companions. When Daisy crossed the rainbow bridge, her owner presented a generous memorial gift to PAHS. With this gift, PAHS created the Daisy Fund, which provides assistance for animals whose owners cannot afford their pets’ urgent veterinary care. With this fund, sick or injured animals will not have to be surrendered to animal shelters or euthanized for lack of means. Assistance with managing crisis veterinary costs is one of the unique ways in which Palo Alto Humane Society helps people and animals in the communities in the mid-Peninsula.
Common Veterinary Services Covered through Daisy’s Fund:
- ER Visit $100
- IV Fluids $50–$100
- Sedation $135
- Ultrasound or X-Rays $70–$200
- Blood Panel $145–$250
- Wound Care $350–$500
- Anesthesia $450
- Surgery $1,000 and up
- Euthanasia $250
This event would not be possible without Sue and her family’s generous support. We are grateful to Impossible Foods for their generous donation and are excited to enjoy plant-based meals at our event.
